Since its foundation PAVASAL has been an innovative company, dedicating a major part of its efforts, both human and material efforts to the research and development of new products and processes, as well as innovating in existing products, through the application of new emerging technologies to its products and processes, substantially improving them, both the former and the latter, and allowing them to remain at the forefront in technology applied to the development and execution of the construction projects and activities it carries out.
The R&D&i activities in which PAVASAL regularly engages include, namely, those relating to road technology, and mainly those relating to the manufacturing and commissioning of bituminous products (emulsions, cold and hot set agglomerates), as well as the development of new products and processes, and improvement thereof.
The most significant R&D&i projects executed at PAVASAL in recent years include:
- Hot recycling greater than 50% of bituminous mixtures
- Improvement in surface regularity through the application of the IRIS 2000 equipment
- Improvement in the road surface milling technique through the application of long-distance references.
- Development of phonoabsorbent mixtures.
- Development and improvement of the execution of printed asphalt.
- Waterproof mixtures
- Colour mixtures
In recent years, PAVASAL has participated in the Fénix Project under the CENIT programme of the CDTI (Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology), which is the largest road surface research project in Europe, whose main lines of research have been the recycling of bituminous mixtures, safety and comfort in roads, warm and semi-hot bituminous mixtures, and research to achieve more energetically sustainable manufacturing plants.
